Led by myself, Kate Macfarlane, a UK Athletics Qualified Coach in Running Fitness and Endurance Event Group Level Coach – licensed and insured to coach all ability runners of any age on road or track. I have been a recreational runner all my adult life and a UK Athletics run leader/coach for 6 years.

About me

UK Athletics qualified running coach

I’m based in Bishop’s Stortford and am passionate about supporting the journey of runners of all levels. I have been a recreational runner all my adult life – and a UK Athletics run leader/coach for 6 years and now offer a variety of running services in the area.

I joined having never run before just under 2 years ago and now love running. I was never a runner and very unfit. Kate has totally converted me to running and adapts to every ability. Fantastic for 0-5k but am now also enjoying the improvers runs. Lovely group of ladies and Kate coaches us so well, she makes everyone welcome whatever their level

Where are you based?

I am based in Bishop’s Stortford – covering East Hertfordshire and Essex. For online coaching and custom training plans you can be based absolutely anywhere in the world!

My personal 1-2-1 coaching and group coaching covers these areas. My women only running groups run every week in Bishop’s Stortford, Chelmsford and Saffron Walden. 1-2-1 coaching can be booked at a location to suit you in the area.

How good do I need to be at running?

I coach runners of all abilities – there is no such thing as too fast or too slow! 

All online and 1-2-1 coaching sessions are specifically designed to suit you and your current level. I offer group run sessions for both total beginners and more established runners. All group sessions are mixed ability and planned to cater for all levels.

What running groups do you have?

I offer women’s running groups in Bishop’s Stortford, Chelmsford and Saffron Walden. There are two levels: beginners for those who are totally new to running or returning after a long break and intermediates for those already running 5km or more.

Beginners sessions are run as a 10-week course. They are designed to take you from 0 to 5km using a progressive run/walk strategy.

Intermediates run every week with sessions designed to work on speed, technique, pacing and endurance.

 

How do I book?

For 1-2-1 coaching, email me at hello@coachkate.co.uk and I’ll send you a custom booking link just for you. 

For the women only running groups, head to https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/CoachKate to choose your sessions. 

Do I have to sign up in blocks?

For online coaching you can simply sign up on a monthly basis with no long-term commitment! Custom training plans are available in the number of weeks you require. There are options of 12, 16, 20, 24 or 26-weeks. For 1-2-1 in person coaching, you can just choose the number of sessions you want. There are price discounts for booking more together. 

Beginner level group sessions are done as a 10-week course so you book for the entire course at once. This is because we progress run times each week so attendance throughout the course is advisable. Intermediate level group sessions can be booked individually.

Absolutely. You can choose the days or times that suit you from the sessions available here.
